Consider requesting a room away from the pub for a quieter experience, especially during weekends.

Great and lovely location in Nelson, right by a pub, library and general store. The rooms with a table and chairs, the bathroom plus the' Library' lounge fun, incredible and exceptional staff who are service oriented.
Wi-Fi was a bit slow.

nice atmosphere but service could be improved
The hotel has a charming ambiance, reflecting its rich history, which really stood out . The restaurant offerings were good, especially Mike's Place, where the food was really good. I enjoyed the fantastic city view from my double room.
The service at times felt a bit slow, which detracted from the overall enjoyment.

The final verdict on this
A beautifully renovated, historic hotel that captures the charm of the past. Rooms aresuper clean and cozy, with fantastic service from the friendly staff. Enjoy cozy vibes in the dining area and delicious, complimentary breakfast. Centrally located, it's perfect for exploring nearby attractions. Just a slight noise concern for light sleepers, but it's worth it!

Very friendly and accomodating staff. Excellent variety of dining and world class entertainment.
The rooms newly refurbished on the top floor are not sound proofed so you here every grunt from your neighbours. I was told that the contractor linrd up the studs instead of staggering them. \insulating material should be blown into the gap between the rooms. The desk shair was of insufficient height to sit comfortably while using my computer.

I liked the separate bedroom for the 2nd queen bed and the cleanliness of the room (even the venetian blinds had been dusted) The included hot breakfast was good as well.
As my husband and I were traveling with our 2 year old son, we like a quiet hotel at night, and we were very disappointed that there was a concert going on that night in the nightclub and the people standing outside the club downstairs sounded like they were standing in our hotel room with us. The front desk person did say that there would be "some noise" but the noise we heard was not "some" it was alot of noise and prevented me and my husband from sleeping till well past 3am in the morning. This really spoiled our impression of the HUME and we will never return to the hotel, even though we do come through Nelson to visit friends. If you like to party and not sleep this is the hotel for you. However if you are family and like to sleep at night I would not recommend this hotel.

It is an old hotel in the center of the charming town of Nelson, BC.
We liked it fine Thursday night, but found it intolerable on Friday night. There is a nightclub downstairs that hosts very loud music until 2:00am. We were on the 3rd floor on the other side of the hotel from the club and were still hearing the music loud and clear. It was not only the music that was a problem, however. The street noise from the patrons of the club exceeded the constant backbeat at times. We would never stay here again on a Friday or Saturday night.

Located on a busy main road, no air-conditioning, no sound-proofing - it was very noisy. A little bit smelly, public areas a bit run down - stair carpet held together with gaffer tape!
